In 1997, Cara & Larry Stauffer established
Native Stone Vineyards, Inc. and planted their first acre of
Norton vines. Today, Native Stone has seven acres of Norton
vines. Sample Native Stone's Dry Red Wine for a taste of
Norton's rich, spicy character that is similar in style to a
Cabernet or Red Zinfandel.
Our vineyards are also home to several hybrid grapes:
"Chardonnel" is a cross of the famed Chardonnay grape
with the popular native "Seyval". It is usually barrel
fermented and produces a very dry, full bodied white wine. Try
the Native Stone Dry White Wine for a taste of this exciting new
hybrid.
"Chambourcin" produces a medium bodied red wine with a
fruity aroma and spicy cherry complexities. It will be used to
produce a Beaujolais style red wine for Native Stone.
"Traminette" is a promising new hybrid resulting in
delicate white wines like Native Stone's Semi-Dry White.
Our latest planting is "Catawba", a delicious pink
grape used in the production of sweet blush wines. To sample its
fruity bouquet, try the Native Stone Blush Wine.
